The second edition of Quantum Latino brought together the quantum Latin American community including academics, students and professionals to discuss opportunities and development in the field of quantum technologies. The Quantum Latino 2022 was hosted in a hybrid format, both online and with the opportunity to attend in-person in Uruguay from 8th – 10th June 2022.
Organised by QURECA, along with The Unconventional Computing Lab and Quantum South, Quantum Latino is being conducted every year to create awareness and promote quantum technologies and to build a connected quantum community in Latin America.
This year the event hosted more than 500 participants and an amazing cohort of speakers with researchers, students, start-ups, and professional bodies in around 40 sessions including short talks, discussion panels, and workshops. This year highlighted the inclusion of more end-users and the wide range of training available to the audience, from newbies to experienced quantum-ready users. The event was sponsored by three major companies such as Amazon Web Service (AWS), Atom Computing and Nu Quantum, as well as media and other supporting partners to foster synergies and collaborations between academia, industry, government, and interested individuals, and thereby strengthen the quantum ecosystem in the Latin America.
Quantum Latino 2022 Statistics
Quantum Latino 2022 garnered attention majorly from industry professionals and students. Furthermore, majority of the attendees expected to understand the ecosystem and scientific advances in the quantum field followed by those who were just getting started with quantum technologies (see event booklet for full detail). These statistics reinforces our motivations for increasing awareness of quantum technology prospects and boosting collaboration between industry and academics. In addition, a close collaboration between the above-mentioned stakeholders will help to create awareness and promote quantum technologies to build a connected quantum community in Latin America.
