Commercialising Quantum Technology
in Glasgow

Simon Armstrong, our Quantum Educational Content Development Manager, and Abhishek Purohit, our Technology and Strategy Associate, recently represented QURECA at the Commercialising Quantum Technology for Scotland event. Hosted by The National Physical Laboratory (NPL) and Technology Scotland, this pivotal gathering aimed to drive the delivery of quantum-enabled technologies.

Key discussions delved into:

  • Motivations behind organisations' investments in quantum technologies.
  • Identifying and overcoming barriers to quantum technology adoption.
  • Elevating Scotland and the broader UK as global frontrunners in quantum technology.

The UK leads the global quantum race, channeling its research strengths into tangible market opportunities via the National Quantum Technologies Programme (NQTP). The NPL Quantum Programme complements this initiative by offering UK industries independent testing, evaluation, standards, and measurement services for emerging quantum technologies. As a leading voice in the quantum industry, it's crucial for QURECA to actively participate in such significant events shaping the future of the field.

Researchers at Caltech have achieved a breakthrough by trapping over 6,100 neutral caesium atoms using optical tweezers, setting a record coherence time for hyperfine qubits and suggesting near-term potential for universal quantum computing.

PASQAL unveils its 2024 roadmap with goals to deliver 100-qubit quantum computers, expand to 10,000 qubits by 2026, enhance global presence, and launch a Quantum Community platform, signalling significant advancements in quantum computing and collaboration.
