The story of QURECA and its Founder

QURECA (Quantum Resources and Careers) was founded in 2019 by Dr. Araceli Venegas-Gomez to bridge the gap between academia, industry, and the broader public in the rapidly evolving field of quantum technologies.

Originally an aerospace engineer at Airbus in Germany and France, Araceli developed a passion for quantum mechanics and decided to pursue a PhD in quantum simulation at the University of Strathclyde in Scotland. During her academic journey, Araceli recognised a significant disconnect between quantum research and its practical application in industry. She also saw the urgent need to address the quantum workforce skills gap and to make quantum technologies more accessible to a wider audience. Motivated by these challenges, she created QURECA, as the solution to the quantum workforce skills bottleneck: the first online platform for quantum training and education, to support individuals and businesses to be part of the quantum revolution.

QURECA offers a range of services, including professional development, business consulting, and tailored training programs for individuals and companies seeking to enter or expand within the quantum sector. The platform helps quantum companies with business development and supports large corporations in understanding and integrating quantum technologies into their strategies. Its mission is to connect all stakeholders in the quantum ecosystem—researchers, industry, government, and the public—using a common language and shared opportunities.

Araceli’s leadership and vision have earned her international recognition, including the Milton and Rosalind Chang Pivoting Fellowship from Optica, which named her a “quantum ambassador” for her outreach and advocacy work. Through QURECA, she continues to drive global opportunities in quantum, foster workforce development, and promote a more connected and inclusive quantum community.
