Bridging the gap
between skills and hiring

Getting the right candidates into critical technologies roles is a two-way street. Employers need a clear view of the talent pool so they can find candidates with the right, verifiable skills. From the other direction, jobseekers need to understand the current job market, types of roles and industry requirements so they can build the right skills and evidence.

That’s why we’re building SPRINT, the Scottish Platform for Recruitment and Intelligence in New Technologies.

It’s a single expert-driven platform that brings talent and employers together around one shared view of Scotland’s critical technologies sector, designed to help bridge the gap between skills and hiring. SMEs are able to access a live snapshot of the talent pool and help define the skills needed across the sector; jobseekers can build evidence in support of their applications and access upskilling opportunities; and universities can shape their curriculum to equip graduates with the skills demanded by industry.

For employers: hire on evidence

SPRINT gives employers direct access to a pool of candidates assessed against a role taxonomy co-created with industry itself. Rather than sifting CVs, employers will be able to:

Access AI-driven skills assessments benchmarked against real, employer-defined roles.

Review evidence packs from hands-on sprint challenges, showing what candidates can actually do.

Draw from pre-screened shortlists and standardised role templates that cut hiring risk and time-to-hire.

Use a dedicated SME Recruitment Toolkit to support both in-house recruitment teams and smaller organisations without dedicated recruitment resources.

It’s not just for SMEs or industry either – academic institutions can use it to find the right candidates for research roles.

A partnership across industry, academia and enterprise

SPRINT is being delivered by three partners, each bringing a distinct strength to the platform:

QURECA is leading the platform build, AI-driven skills assessment and candidate pipeline.

Technology Scotland mobilises employers across the Critical Technologies Supercluster and is coordinating the shared role taxonomy.

Heriot-Watt University mobilises talent through its MSc, CDT and wider Scottish university pipelines, and designs the sprint challenges that generate evidence of real-world capability.

Together, the partners are building an integrated hiring infrastructure designed to move local talent into local jobs, faster.
