SUMMARY:Summerschool NanoQI 2024
DESCRIPTION:Advances in the understanding and control of the quantum properties of matter and in nanofabrication are laying the groundwork for revolutionary new technologies and information processing capabilities. Following the successful schools in 2016\, 2017\, 2019 and 2022\, the summer school NanoQI’24 provides an introduction to the basics and recent advances in major areas of quantum information theory and solid-state-based quantum technologies. Both the physics of different implementations of quantum information technologies and the applicable theoretical methods are covered. \nThe school is aimed at PhD students and young postdocs interested in quantum information processing and quantum technologies and offers lectures by leading researchers in the field (both from experiment and theory) that offer an overview of the main concepts and methods and explain promising current research directions. In addition it offers a forum for all participants to present and discuss their own research with their colleagues and senior researchers. \nThe confirmed lecturers and speakers are: \nJason Alicea (Caltech\, Pasadena\, CA\, USA)\nDaniel Barredo (CINN-CSIC\, El Entrego\, Spain)\nHarry Buhrman (CWI Amsterdam\, The Netherlands)\nDeung-Jang Choi (CFM San Sebastián\, Spain)\nFrancisco Guinea (IMDEA Madrid and DIPC\, San Sebastián\, Spain)\nKlemens Hammerer (U Hannover\, Germany)\nAtac Imamoglu (ETH Zurich\, Switzerland)\nHannes Pichler (IQOQI and U Innsbruck\, Austria)\nSilvia Kusminskiy (RWTH Aachen\, Germany)\nSeigo Tarucha (RIKEN\, Wako\, Japan) \nThe school follows the format of the prior schools of the same name (NanoQI’16 – ’22) and is aimed at PhD students working in quantum information processing or quantum technologies and at young postdocs entering the field. It offers lectures by 7 leading researchers both from experiment and from theory that provide an overview of the main concepts and methods and explain major current research directions. The lectures are complemented with a poster session and three colloquium-style talks. The school offers ample room for discussions and a forum for all participants to present and discuss their own research with their colleagues and senior researchers. \nThe application deadline has been extended to May 3rd (or until all places are filled).
