Quantum Latino 2022, was the second edition of this pivotal event in the quantum Latin American community that gathered academics, students and professionals involved in quantum technologies, to discuss opportunities and development in that geographical area. The event was hosted in a hybrid form, online and with the opportunity to attend in person in Uruguay from 8th<\/sup> \u2013 10th<\/sup> June 2022. <\/p>\n\n Quantum Latino is a corporate event organised QURECA<\/a>, along with The Unconventional Computing Lab<\/a> and Quantum South<\/a>, to create awareness and promote quantum technologies to build a connected quantum community in Latin America.<\/p>\n\n This year the event hosted online about 369 participants to listen to 61 speakers such as professors, researchers, students, start-ups, and professional bodies around 40 sessions including short talks, discussion panels, and workshops. The innovation of this edition was the implication of more end-users and the wide range of training available to the audience, from newbies to experienced quantum-ready users. The event was sponsored by three major companies such as Amazon Web Service (AWS)<\/a>, Atom Computing<\/a> and Nu Quantum<\/a> as well as some media and other supporting partners to foster synergies and collaborations between academia, industry, government, and interested individuals, and thereby strengthen the quantum ecosystem in this geographical area. <\/p>\n\n As depicted in the picture above, Quantum Latino 2022 hosted online fewer attendees than the session of 2021 although the demographic informs a large interest of corporate in quantum technologies almost as equal to the portion of academia. Furthermore, almost half of the audience was present to understand the ecosystem and scientific advances in the quantum field followed by those who are just getting started with quantum technologies (see event booklet for full detail). This might lead to the assumption that there is still a lot of work to do in terms of raising awareness about quantum technology opportunities and promoting collaboration between companies and academia. In addition, a close collaboration between the above-mentioned stakeholders will help to create awareness and promote quantum technologies to build a connected quantum community in Latin America.<\/p>\n\n A massive thank you to all the speakers, sponsors and talented individuals who participated in the event.
