DESCRIPTION:The Analysis for Innovators (A4I) Innovate UK grant funding competition has successfully run eight times between 2016 to 2022. This ninth round of the programme builds upon that experience. The A4I programme aims to help boost a company’s productivity or competitiveness. It is focused on helping individual companies solve tricky and perhaps long running technical problems affecting existing processes. DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to invite you to the 89th Annual Meeting of the Southeastern Section of the American Physical Society (SESAPS). SESAPS 2022 will be held November 3-5\, 2022 at The Inn at Ole Miss on the University of Mississippi campus. Established in 1937\, SESAPS exists for the advancement and diffusion of knowledge of physics within the southeastern region of the United States\, including the states of Alabama\, Florida\, Georgia\, Kentucky\, Louisiana\, Mississippi\, North Carolina\, South Carolina\, Tennessee\, and Virginia; the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico; and the US Virgin Islands. We especially encourage undergraduate and graduate students to attend and submit abstracts for oral and/or poster presentations. Limited travel support is available for students. We will also have numerous exciting special sessions\, including a session to promote discussion on diversity issues in physics. \nSESAPS 2022 will include sessions covering a broad range of current topics in physics research\, a student poster session\, a graduate program fair\, and the presentation of the annual SESAPS awards in teaching (Pegram)\, research (Beams)\, and service (Slack). Undergraduate students will have the chance to compete for prizes for best oral and poster presentations. Our goals for this school are: \n\nProvide both a primer of open quantum systems and it applications in quantum information science\nConvene a multidisciplinary group of students and researchers to help build a common language around open quantum systems\, accelerate development in the field\, and provide new approaches and tools for experimentalists and theoreticians alike to apply to their work to different physical systems\nProvide a platform to foster cross-cutting collaborations and networks\, and to aid the establishment of a diverse group of researchers who will drive the QIS field forward.\n\nThe tentative schedule of lectures is as follows: \nMarch 21\, M Introduction to Open Quantum Systems (Daniel Lidar\, USC) \nMarch 22\, T Control of Open Quantum Systems (Christiane Koch\, FU Berlin) \nMarch 23\, W Continuous Measurement and Quantum Trajectories (Ivan Deutsch\, UNM) \nMarch 24\, Th Quantum Circuits (Matthew Fisher\, UCSB/ITP) \nMarch 25\, F Measurement and Control for QEC (Liang Jiang\, U Chicago) \nThe school will be held remotely and to combat “Zoom fatigue”\, we are planning a modest schedule for each day\, starting at 9AM Pacific time to enable participation from various time zones. Each day will start with approximately 1.5 hours of lecture followed by 1.5 hours of student breakout sessions during which students will work in small groups on assigned problems. The school will then reconvene to review problem set solutions and finish with an additional 1 hour of lecture. Local watch parties and in-person breakout sessions may be hosted at UCLA\, UCB\, and UNM by the respective quantum computing student groups on those campuses.

The scientific objective of the series is to gather the theoretical quantum information community to present and discuss the latest groundbreaking work in the field.
