SUMMARY:UK National Quantum Technologies Showcase 2021
DESCRIPTION:On 11 November the Government introduced the National Security and Investment Bill into Parliament. Subject to Parliamentary approval\, the Bill will update the Government’s powers to scrutinise and intervene in business transactions\, such as takeovers\, to protect national security. \nThe Bill proposes to create a mandatory notification requirement for certain types of transactions in key sensitive sectors\, of which Quantum Technologies is one. This will require those making investments in the sector to notify and receive approval from government before completing certain types of transactions. \nAs a result\, Government will be automatically informed of potential transactions in sensitive technology areas and will be able to take action to investigate and mitigate any national security risks. It is worth clarifying however\, that the vast majority of transactions are not expected to be called in.

DESCRIPTION:The National Meeting of Optics (RNO) is a triennial congress organized by the Spanish Society of Optics (SEDOPTICA)\, which has a long history of more than 30 years. An average of 200 professionals from different specialties of Optics and Photonics in Spain converge in each RNO and it is where the latest scientific and technological advances in this field are presented. \nThe XIII RNO 2021\, organized this year by the SEDOPTICA Women\, Optics and Photonics Area\, aims to maintain the high quality standards of this conference\, placing special emphasis on creating a parity and attractive congress for younger researchers. \nThis year\, the National Optics Meeting will be held online. This new format will facilitate the participation of the entire Ibero-American community in Optics and Photonics\, thus reinforcing SEDOPTICA’s links with Ibero-American Societies. The RNO is a congress with an international presence that accepts contributions in Spanish and English from any researcher with no limit of location.
